Founded in 1975, Montana wasn't built by a solitary founder.

Instead, master artisans from three distinct local tanning families joined forces, pooling their generations of technical knowledge to establish one united company.

This rare collaboration created a rich foundation of craftsmanship that continues to drive the tannery's quality standards today.

2. A Founding Member From the Beginning

In 1994, key Tuscan tanneries united to establish the Consorzio Vera Pelle Italiana Conciata al Vegetale (Genuine Italian Vegetable-Tanned Leather Consortium).

Montana was right there as a founding member — helping define the strict quality and environmental standards under the prestigious "Pelle Conciata al Vegetale in Toscana" trademark that the entire region still follows.

3. More Than 95% Bio-Based

While many materials carry vague "natural" claims, Montana backs its products with measurable data.

Independent laboratory testing confirms that Montana's vegetable-tanned leather is made from more than 95% bio-based raw materials.

By using organic plant tannins instead of synthetic chemicals, the resulting leather remains environmentally responsible, highly durable, and naturally beautiful.
