2. It Starts With the Hide, Not the Recipe

No tanning process can completely compensate for poor raw material.

HAAS states that its leathers are made primarily from French calfskins, with the tannery working with French and European breeders and other specialists to improve the quality of the skins at source.

The tannery specifically describes the raw material used for its renowned leathers as primarily French calf with a resistant fibre structure.

That matters because calf leather is naturally fine-grained and can reveal subtle characteristics from one skin to another.

The tannery's job isn't to make every hide identical.
